Respite Care of San Antonio offers full time daycare services
at Christ Episcopal Church. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30
a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Children 6 weeks to 6 years of
age receive care at the daycare center, with camps for
school age children held during school breaks. Enrolled
children participate in developmentally appropriate educational
and recreational activities. Preschool age siblings are
accepted, offering parents the convenience of one childcare
facility that accepts their disabled and non-disabled
children. On-site nursing staff allow the acceptance of
children with complex medical needs, such as g-tube feedings
and nebulizer treatments. All fees are on a sliding fee
scale, determined based upon household income.
Many children with developmental disabilities require
expensive specialized care, often preventing parents
from seeking employment outside the home. The additional
medical expenses related to their child’s condition
further weakens their financial circumstances. The
availability of affordable, specialized care for children
with disabilities and children who require ongoing
medical treatment offers parents the opportunity to
seek employment or further their education, strengthening
their long-term financial condition.
