Transforming Lives Through Care and Compassion

At Respite Care of San Antonio (RCSA), we believe every child has the right to thrive, no matter their medical or developmental challenges. Since we opened, we have been a safe haven for children with complex needs and those healing from abuse, neglect, or trauma.

Every number represents a child cared for, a parent supported, and a family strengthened. From developmental milestones to reduced stress for caregivers, our programs bring hope and healing to some of the most vulnerable children in our community.

Our impact is more than numbers. It is the daily progress of a child learning new skills, the reassurance a parent feels knowing their child is safe, and the strength of a community standing together to protect its most vulnerable members.

The Story Behind the Numbers

Behind each number is a story of resilience. A child taking their first steps, a parent finally able to rest, a family finding the support they need.

  • Safety and Stability: Over 21,000 days and nights of care means children aren’t just touched briefly by services — they are supported consistently, day after day.

  • Growth and Progress: Every child in our care reached at least one developmental milestone, proof that with the right support, progress is always possible.

  • Relief for Caregivers: Nearly 9 out of 10 parents reported reduced stress, giving families space to focus on work, health, and hope for the future.

  • Comprehensive Support: With multiple services per family, households are receiving wraparound care that strengthens long-term stability.

Programs in Action

Our specialized services meet families where they are and grow with them through life’s challenges and transitions:

  • Developmental Childcare: Early education for children with medical and developmental needs, ages six weeks to six years. A nurturing space where learning, therapy, and play come together.

  • Community Respite Programs: Short-term care that gives parents a break and children the chance to build skills and friendships. Families regain balance while children thrive in a supportive environment.

  • Residential Children’s Homes: A safe, loving home for children removed from difficult environments. Here, healing begins, milestones are celebrated, and trauma is met with compassion.
