2022 RCSA 35th anniversary Gala

Respite Care of San Antonio 35th Anniversary Gala

Our annual gala was held in late September with great fanfare!

Sean and Claudia Elliott were honored for their immense service to our community’s children. Sean encouraged all to give, noting that what you receive in return is meaningful for years to come. Meanwhile, Claudia’s graciousness was on display as she took to the podium to share what touched her heart about Respite Care’s mission. Claudia spoke as a working mother who has raised successful adult children, knowing that families with special needs children need extra care, love, and support.

The room was filled with supporters who were anxious to put the loneliness of the pandemic aside as we gathered to celebrate life. The steady, low murmur of table conversation halted when the emcee announced that a video had been created by student filmmaker, Kyle Ward, to tell the story of Respite Care. As the video played, our greatest hope – that people would pause, truly listen, and absorb the message was realized.

A hush came across the room, and even staff, who had seen the video many times were transfixed by the words, imagery, and ability to lift ourselves from the difficulties we all face day to day. You can see a version of the video on our website today to experience the mission, and fall in love with sweet Sebastian, who goes by the nickname “Bash.”

Galas are about connecting people to the mission in tangible ways that result in funding. That too was realized – as RCSA’s Annual Gala raised close to $400,000 this year with over $350,000 being directly applied to furthering our mission. This incredible outcome was made possible through the dedication and hard work of our development committee, as well as overwhelming support from the community. We are grateful for your love!
